Welcome

RE-OPENING OF ST MICHAEL’S FOR PUBLIC WORSHIP, UPDATE 25/02/21

Dear St Michael’s,

A note to update you following the Prime Minister’s statement last Monday evening, in which he set out the roadmap to ease the lockdown restrictions cautiously, and to say that I met again with the PPC which was well represented across our community and discussed the implications for a phased relaxation of the COVID restrictions. I agreed a phased re-opening for public worship starting on 14th March, with just the one Mass at 9.30am, and then to review the situation just before Palm Sunday, and hopefully to return again to the two weekend Masses, as we pray that we may fully open for Holy Week and the celebration of Easter.

Whilst many of us feel the great need for an immediate return to Public Worship, the advice we’re receiving from the Chief Medical Officer and the Scientific Adviser is still to proceed cautiously and give ourselves adequate time to assess the effects of the lockdown restrictions.

It’s also so good and heartening to know that our children are going back to school shortly on the 8th March, and hopefully the infection rate will continue to fall, as we pray the Lord’s blessing and protection on us all at this time.

With every blessing, Fr Chris

Welcome to our Parish of St Michael, Durrington and High Salvington.

St Michael's is situated to the North West of Worthing at the foot of the South Downs, overlooking the sea some two miles to the South, with beautiful views and a lovely Church set in large spacious grounds.

We are a very warm and friendly parish and belong to theChurchentrance Diocese of Arundel and Brighton. Bishop Richard Moth is our Bishop and was appointed by Pope Francis as the fifth Bishop of Arundel & Brighton and was installed on 28 May 2015 at Arundel Cathedral. Our church was opened on the 25th April 1966 by Bishop David Cashman, and we celebrated our Golden Jubilee in April 2016.

ChurchinteriorWelcome to our beautiful church and lovely community in which you will feel and experience the warmth of God's presence, and the Spirit of the Lord. We have many young families in the Parish, and these photos of our Church celebrate one of the highlights of our year, our First Holy Communion Day.
